About me

Melanie Wilson, MBACP

I’m Melanie (Mel), the face of Candour Therapy.

I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.  


At the heart of my practice is the belief that healing occurs through genuine connection, honesty, and courage.
I believe that everyone has the ability to lead a happy and fulfilling life. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that mental and emotional well-being are integral to overall health, and that therapy can be a powerful tool for achieving this balance.

My Experience

I bring several years of experience working within institutional and community settings, where I’ve supported children, young people, and adults, including individuals with additional support needs, and those affected by complex social and psychological challenges. I am deeply committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces for all clients, including individuals from BAME, LGBTQ+, and neurodiverse backgrounds.

My Approach

My Approach

As an Integrative Counsellor, I offer a compassionate and tailored approach to emotional wellbeing. My work draws from a range of therapeutic models, allowing me to adapt sessions to the unique needs, pace, and goals of each client.


My integrative framework includes person-centred therapy, which fosters a safe, non-judgmental space for exploration; psychodynamic insights that help uncover the influence of early experiences and unconscious patterns; and cognitive-behavioural techniques (CBT) to support practical, goal-oriented change. I also incorporate aspects of gestalt therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness, helping clients reconnect with themselves in both mind and body.


I believe therapy is a collaborative space for healing, insight, and transformation. Whether you’re navigating past wounds or present challenges, I aim to walk alongside you with empathy, integrity, and respect - helping you make sense of your experiences and reconnect with your inner resilience.
