Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out at melanie@candourtherapy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Candour Therapy provides quality, long-term and short-term therapeutic services, such as counselling, to individuals experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.

We offer a minimum of 6 counselling sessions, as well as open ended therapy. Sessions take place weekly or fortnightly for a duration of 50 minutes (therapeutic hour).

Sessions can be conducted face to face, online, or via telephone. Walk and talk sessions can also be arranged (based on suitability).

Counselling and therapy are closely related and are often used interchangeably. In general, counselling tends to focus on specific concerns or life situations and may be shorter-term. Therapy often explores deeper patterns, emotional difficulties, or long‑standing challenges and may involve longer‑term work.

We provide both counselling and therapy, enabling the approach to be tailored to the nature and complexity of your needs.

Candour Therapy provides counselling services for individuals of all ages, including children aged 13+, adolescents, and adults. Our practice is inclusive and welcoming to every ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, identity, and sexual orientation. We are here to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where everyone is respected and valued.

We also provide counselling for organisations.

Results from counselling vary by person and issue. Some see improvement in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Progress depends on the issue’s complexity, your goals, and engagement in the process.

It is also important to understand it is not uncommon for individuals to feel worse before they start to feel better. The therapeutic work will be reviewed regularly and adjusted accordingly.

You can book an initial consultation by pressing the 'book' button on our Services page. Alternatively you can request an appointment using our contact form or details.

Therapy sessions can be agreed and scheduled once a consultation has been completed.

Please note, we aim to respond to any enquiries within 48hrs.*

We believe counselling should be accessible to everyone. Therefore, we offer reduced rates for students, trainee counsellors, low-income individuals, and OAPs. Proof of eligibility will be required.

Additionally, a 10% discount will be applied for block bookings of 6 or more sessions paid in advance.*

We know that the idea of reaching out for support can feel overwhelming or intimidating. That's why we encourage you to simply start with a consultation - at a time that suits you. It’s not a commitment to ongoing therapy, just a gentle first step.

If you're unsure or have any questions, feel free to give us a call for an informal chat or send us an email. We're here to help, with no pressure.
